Danyel Thomson, Kraisorn Rueangkul and Maly Courtaigne from DFDL will address the common labor concerns in relation to working and hiring individuals in three of the Mekong Region’s emerging economies – Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.
They will present the main legal policies affecting labor issues in these countries. Key to understanding these policies will be case studies on acquisitions and transfer of employees; options and associated risks of treatment of contractors and employees; requirements of labor contracts; and termination of employment.
About the Speakers:
- Maly Courtaigne, Managing Director, DFDL Singapore
Maly is an international lawyer with eight years’ experience, admitted to Paris and New York bars, with expertise in antitrust law, commercial and corporate law. She holds an LL.M in International Business and Trade Law (Fordham University School of Law, New York, USA), postgraduate in Organizations and International Corporations Law (University of Paris XI – Sceaux), and a Master in Law majoring in private and corporate law (University of Paris II – Assas).
- Kraisorn Rueangkul, Partner, DFDL Thailand
Kraisorn specializes in public private partnership, international finance, corporate finance with an emphasis on corporate transactions, mergers and acquisitions, real estate financings, aviation, infrastructure and renewable energy project. He is experienced in cross-border mergers, investments in Mekong region. Kraisorn also has in-depth expertise in dispute resolution for fixed price oil and gas sale schemes, energy matters, international investment law, corporate and human resources & employment, and competition law matters.
He holds an LL.M (Durham University, UK) and an LL.B (Thammasat University, Thailand).
- Danyel Thomson, Senior Legal Adviser, Head of Regional Employment Practice Group, DFDL Myanmar
Danyel is an American qualified lawyer who specializes in labor and employment matters. She advises clients on all matters involving labor law issues, including employment contracts, internal regulations, employment terminations, and employer rights and obligations. Her varied client base includes commercial enterprises, embassies, international organizations, and non-governmental organizations. Danyel’s experience also includes advising clients on anti-corruption, distribution and service contracts, regulatory compliance and commercial issues in an array of industry sectors.
She is based in DFDL’s Yangon, Myanmar office and provides advice on employment matters for DFDL offices throughout the region, in particular Laos and Myanmar.
Danyel is a member of the Bar Associations of New Jersey and North Carolina in the United States. She holds a Juris Doctor from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law.
