Jacques Pickering, Managing Director, Pickering Pacific, will present how to succeed at mergers & acquisitions (M&As) in Southeast Asia and China based on his experience of advising clients acquiring companies in the region. He will use many actual case studies from his work at Pickering Pacific for the past thirteen years.
The talk will cover how to pro-actively identify suitable acquisition targets, how to contact their owners and convince them to sell, and how to execute all key steps of the resulting acquisition (e.g., indicative offer, due diligence, valuation, final negotiations). It will focus on communicating the best practices that acquirers should put in place in order to complete value-adding acquisitions and avoid the numerous pitfalls that could lead to failed acquisitions.
The talk will cover the following key countries: mainland China, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines
About the speaker
- Jacques Pickering, Managing Director, Pickering Pacific
Jacques is the founder and a Managing Director of Pickering Pacific.
Prior to founding Pickering Pacific, Jacques started his career in 1991 as an M&A lawyer for Clifford Chance in Paris before being transferred to London. From 2000 to 2003, Jacques worked in senior M&A and financial roles for the H.J. Heinz Company. He first worked at Heinz World Headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (U.S.) as General Manager in charge of Portfolio Planning and Analysis, and then in Melbourne (Australia) as Director, Planning & Business Development for Heinz Australasia.
Jacques has led Pickering Pacific for the past 13 years.
Jacques has more than 25 years of experience in M&A projects. Jacques has extensive knowledge of East Asia culture and practices. He has lived in Singapore since 2003 and spent five years in the Philippines and Thailand as a child. He is married to a Chinese lady.
Jacques holds an MBA from IMD in Lausanne (Switzerland), and an LL.M. in Business Law and an LL.M. in English and North American Comparative Law from University Paris I – Sorbonne.
Jacques has contributed articles on M&A-related topics to various publications and has been a frequent speaker at regional conferences.
