About the Speakers:
- Mr Manu Bhaskaran, Adjunct Senior Research Fellow, the Institute of Policy Studies
Manu Bhaskaran is Director of Centennial Group International and the Founding Director and Chief Executive Officer of Centennial Asia Advisors.
Mr Bhaskaran is an expert on economic and political risk assessment and forecasting. Before joining the Centennial Group, he was Chief Economist for Asia of a leading international investment bank and managed its Singapore-based economic advisory group.
Mr Bhaskaran is a well-regarded commentator on Asian financial and economic affairs, and has regular columns in business weeklies such as the Edge in Singapore/Malaysia. He serves as Senior Adjunct Fellow, Institute of Policy Studies, member of the Regional Advisory Board of the IMF for Asia, Council Member of the Singapore Institute of International Affairs and Vice-President of the Economics Society of Singapore.
Mr Bhaskaran has a Master’s degree in Public Administration from the John F Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and a Bachelor’s degree in economics from Cambridge University. He has also qualified as a Chartered Financial Analyst. He is based in Singapore.
- Mr Antoine Chery, Head of Economic Service for ASEAN Countries, French Embassy in Singapore
Antoine Chery is the representative of the French Treasury in the Asean region. He holds a BA in Politics (Sciences Po Paris) and a MA in Government Administration (ENA Paris).
Before joining the French Treasury in 1995, he held various positions, including credit analyst in a bank in Los Angeles.
In the French Treasury, Mr Chery held successively the positions of assistant director in charge of the housing market and the supervision of some state-controlled lending institutions, and assistant director in charge of financial relations with Russia, Ukraine, Turkey and the former Yugoslavia. He was appointed deputy Trade Commissioner in Sydney in 1999 and Financial Counselor at the French Embassy in the United Kingdom in 2003. Mr Chery served then as Economic and Trade Counselor in the French Embassy in Korea between 2006 and 2010, and was appointed in 2010 Deputy Assistant Secretary of the French Treasury, in charge of emerging economies, leading a team of 30 economists. After a mission in Brazil in 2013 and 2014, he was appointed head of the Economic Service for ASEAN Countries on 1 September 2014, based in Singapore.

- Mr Mark Keenan, Head of Commodities Research – Asia, Société Générale
Mark Keenan is Managing Director and Head of Commodity Research - Asia and is based in Singapore. For the last four years, Société Générale has been voted by the industry as the Best Overall in Commodity Research in both Risk and Energy Risk. Immediately prior to joining Société Générale, Mark was CEO of Cubit Commodity Research, a firm dedicated to fundamentally-driven commodity investment strategies. Prior to Cubit, Mark worked in the asset management and hedge fund industry at RWC Partners in London and before that, as Head of Commodity Investor Products (ETD) at UBS Investment Bank in London.
Mark has over 17 years of experience in commodity trading, sales, research and strategy. His experience extends to all the major energy, industrial metal, bulk, precious metal, and agriculture markets across all instruments and into related asset classes. He has worked with a wide range of clients, including corporates, trade houses, sovereign wealth funds, endowments, pension funds, private banks, family offices and hedge funds, across a variety of investment, hedging and trading mandates. Mark appears regularly on CNBC and Bloomberg TV and is quoted widely in global press and media channels.
Mark has a BA and MA in Biochemistry from Oxford University
