Emily Tan is Chief Executive and Country Director at Thales Singapore from 1 September 2022. Emily leads Thales’ 2000-strong employee base in Singapore, and drives the company’s strategic growth across wide-ranging sectors including Aerospace, Defence, Digital Identity and Security. Thales has, in Singapore, the Group's largest multi-module Digital Identity & Security manufacturing centre, the Group's largest avionics production and Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) facility, one of its five global Research & Technology labs and its first Digital Factory outside of Europe.

Prior to joining Thales, Emily has over 14 years’ experience in business and operations roles in Shell. She was the General Manager of Shell’s global City Solutions business, part of Shell Renewables & Energy Solutions. City Solutions works collaboratively with government, industry and society to support the cities’ transition to sustainable energy solutions. This followed her role as General Manager of Shell’s bitumen business for Asia and the Middle East. Emily joined Shell Chemicals in 2008 and was responsible for the commercial business of two key product lines.

Prior to Shell, Emily‘s professional experience was diverse, including starting up a company in technology commercialization. Emily began her career with the Singapore Economic Development Board where she held various appointments, including Head of International Policy and Director of EDB London.

Emily holds an MBA from INSEAD, France; Master’s in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT); and Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign (UIUC), USA.
