Mr Chow was appointed Thales Group Vice President / Country Director for Singapore and Chief Executive Officer of Thales Solutions Asia Pte Ltd (TSA) on 1st March 2016. As CEO, Mr Chow has overall P&L responsibility for TSA, which employs more than 650 people across 5 different activities: Avionics, Transportation, Security, Defense, and Research & Technology/Innovation. In his role as Country Director for Singapore, Mr Chow is responsible for all of Thales Group’s relationships in the country with customers, partners & all other stakeholders.
Prior to his current role at Thales, Mr Chow was with Singapore Technologies (ST) Aerospace, a global MRO company with more than S$2 billion revenue and 8000 employees in the Americas, Asia-Pacific and Europe. From 2014 to 2015, Mr Chow was the Vice-President/ General Manager of ST Aerospace Resources Pte Ltd, where he launched and spearheaded the company’s aircraft leasing business, attracting US$75 million external equity investment into a fund managed by the company. He was also Vice President, Strategic Plans and Business Development for ST Aerospace from 2010 to 2014, overseeing ST Aerospace’s strategy, alliances, partnerships and Mergers & Acquisitions activities.
Mr Chow also held several leadership positions at the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), where he served from 2001 to 2010. Notably, in 2010, he held 3 concurrent appointments: Deputy Director (Transport Engineering), Deputy Director (Precision Engineering) and Deputy Director (Europe Desk). In that role, he was part of the management team that oversaw EDB’s initiatives in the following sectors: aerospace, marine, land transport, oil & gas equipment and services, machinery and systems, and precision modules & components. From 2004 to 2009, Mr Chow was based in France as EDB’s Centre Director for France, then Regional Director for Europe overseeing its 5 offices (Paris, Frankfurt, Milan, London and Stockholm).
Awarded a Public Service Commission (PSC) scholarship by the Singapore government, Mr Chow concurrently obtained both his degrees in Masters of Science in Aerospace Vehicle Design from Cranfield University, UK and Diplome d’Ingénieur (Masters Degree in Engineering) from Ecole Nationale d’Aviation Civile, Toulouse, France in 1999.
