Past Event | NG TENG FONG General Hospital Visit – September 2024

The French Chamber of Commerce in Singapore- Team France Export recently organised a visit to Ng Teng Fong General Hospital (NTFGH) and Jurong Community Hospital (JCH), offering valuable insights into their operational practices, infrastructure, and medical innovations.

Both NTFGH and JCH are at the forefront of integrated healthcare in Singapore, having been designed collaboratively to prioritize patient-centered care. By engaging with the community to understand local needs, the hospitals have developed a model that emphasises seamless service delivery.

Harmonious Integration of Care

The two hospitals work in tandem to facilitate smooth patient transitions. NTFGH specialises in acute care, while JCH provides a more tailored environment for recovery. This integrated model enables healthcare teams to collaborate effectively, utilizing unified medical records to enhance coordination for patients and caregivers alike.

Mr NG KIAN SWAN, Chief Operating Officer, shared the following valuable insights: 

• Sustainability Initiatives: Jurong Community Hospital is the only hospital in Singapore that harnesses solar energy to convert natural sunlight into a heat source, generating hot water. The hospital is designed to be carbon-neutral, incorporating features such as solar energy, rainwater harvesting, and water-efficient systems.
• Innovative Ward Design: The ward layouts at NTFGH and JCH deviate from traditional models, featuring an innovative fan shape that ensures every patient has access to a window, enhancing their overall experience.
• Integrated Facility Design: Both hospitals were designed as an integrated healthcare facility, which significantly improves patient care and service delivery.
• Specialised Facilities: The hospitals has 120 ergonomic outpatient consultation rooms, 42 high-dependency beds, 28 intensive care unit beds, and 18 state-of-the-art operating theatres.
